brian + jennifer • engagement at the capitol • austin, tx

Shawn and I spent some time in Austin this last weekend to photograph Brian + Jenn's Engagement session at the Texas State Capitol. I'm excited to be photographing their wedding there in just a couple of weeks!

We began the shoot at a park where they like to take Jenn's dog, Lola (which is the best dog name ever). It was so beautiful out- and we had a great view of the city from there. 

Brian works in Politics and even officed out of the Capitol for a while, so needless to say he knew who to call to get us access to this rooftop view of the Capitol. It was beautiful- the sun was setting and putting off this yummy golden light.

Then we got the ultimate Capitol tour- these were shot on the balcony overlooking Congress St.:

steven + lauren • engagement • dallas, tx

Knox and I hopped on a plane last week to Dallas so I could shoot my sister and her fiance's engagement session. (The little guy did a pretty good job on the plane, though I now know that any plane-time I experience in the future will be anything but relaxing.) 

I'm used to getting to be around engaged lovebirds all the time, but this time it was my sister, which made my inner over-acheiver go into hyperdrive. "It has to be perfect..."

These two will be getting married at The Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas, and so we began our shoot there. Steven and Lauren had a vision for a distinctly Mad Men feel, which was really fun. I think they totally pulled it off!

I think they need a giant canvas of this for their casa...

Then we went driving and found a random park where we could get a few images to reflect their hippie/grassroots sides...

We decided to end the night at Bolsa- it was super crowded, so by the time we were seated, it was super dark. But that bruschetta was worth the wait!

aimee + brien • engagement • lubbock, tx

The day of Aimee + Brien's engagement shoot was super hot, and I had already had quite a busy day taking care of various things- so when I met these two I was so refreshed. I totally enjoyed photographing them and talking about all sorts of things- mostly their adventures! They are both originally from Baton Rouge and have lived in Lubbock while Brien worked at UMC. Soon, though, they'll be relocating to Denver for Brien's residency. (Complete change of scenery!)

I love photographing couples who have known each other for a long time- there is a sense of comfort and belonging there- they're just able to communicate without having to use too many words.

dan + natalie • engagement • olton, tx

Last week I got to drive out to the small West Texas town of Olton, Texas to photograph Dan + Natalie's engagement session. These two met in college at TCU and have settled down in the place Dan grew up. Dan is a cattle rancher, and so it was appropriate to go out to his property for their shoot. I know I asked a zillion silly questions ("so, like, how much do each one of these cows weigh?"), but Dan was so patient with me! I had a great time with he and Natalie- and can't wait for their wedding at the Baker Building next month!

jeremy + haylee • engagement • lubbock, tx

Jeremy and Haylee were so much fun. We had a gorgeous, and I mean GORGEOUS day to shoot. I loved getting to incorporate Haylee's daughter, Lexie, (whom you have seen before, if you follow my blog) into the photos. I can't wait for their wedding in just a couple months!
