Everything from my Mediterranean cruise tours video, in one place. We sailed Sun Princess from Barcelona to Rome in the summer of 2026, and these are the exact excursions we booked in each port, plus a few we didn't do but wish we had. I only link things I'd book again.

Tap any button and you'll land on my full Viator list, where you can open each tour for dates, prices, and reviews. Most have free cancellation, which I lean on heavily when I'm booking months out.

Some of these are affiliate links. If you book through them I earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and it helps me keep making these. The beach club and anything marked "not affiliate" is just a plain link.

Barcelona · pre-cruise

Sagrada Família, Barcelona We did this

Sagrada Família Guided Tour with Skip-the-Line Access

Book this before you book anything else. The line without it is brutal in summer, and having a guide inside actually changes how you see the building.

Tapas and wine walking tour in Barcelona We did this

Barcelona Tapas & Wine Small-Group Walking Tour

Three hours, a handful of stops, and you leave knowing how to order for the rest of the trip. A good first-night activity when you're jet-lagged and don't want to pick a restaurant.

GoCar in Barcelona We did this

GoCar Barcelona Experience

A little GPS-guided car you drive yourself around the city. Silly, fun, and a fast way to cover a lot of ground when you only have a day or two before the ship.

Palma de Mallorca

Valldemossa, Mallorca We did this

Palma de Mallorca & Valldemossa Tour from the Cruise Port

Picks you up at the port, gets you into the mountains and the village of Valldemossa, and has you back with time to spare. The easy way to see more than the city on a one-day stop.

Marseille

Provence day trip from Marseille We did this

Private Provence Tour: Marseille, Cassis & Aix-en-Provence

Our one splurge on a private driver, and worth it. Cassis and Aix in a single port day is only realistic if someone else is handling the roads, and the price is per group, so it gets reasonable fast if you're traveling with friends.

Genoa

Portofino Wish we'd booked

Private Portofino & Santa Margherita Shore Excursion from Genoa

We stayed in Genoa this day and I'd do it differently next time. This is the one I'd book: Portofino and Santa Margherita are close enough to be an easy day, and a private driver means you're not watching the clock. Photo from the tour listing, not ours.

La Spezia · Florence & Pisa

Pisa DIY'd it · here's another option

Cruise-Friendly Florence & Pisa Tour from La Spezia Cruise Port

We did this day on our own with trains and it was great, but it takes planning and a little nerve about getting back to the ship on time. If you'd rather not think about connections, this is the tour built around the port schedule.

Cinque Terre

Cinque Terre DIY'd it · here's another option

Cinque Terre Day Tour by Train from La Spezia

We bought regional train tickets and did the villages self-guided, which I'd recommend if you like figuring things out. If you'd rather have someone handle the train timing and tell you which village is worth the stairs, this is the guided version of the same day.

Ajaccio, Corsica

KOS Beach Club, Ajaccio We did this

KOS Beach Club

No tour this day. We took a beach day at KOS and it was one of the best days of the trip. Reserve loungers ahead in summer. Not an affiliate link, just where we went.

Rome · post-cruise

Vatican Museums We did this

Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica Guided Tour

Three hours, one guide, and you skip the part where you stand outside wondering if you're in the right line. If you only book one thing in Rome, book this.

The Colosseum, Rome We did this

Colosseum Express with Gladiator Arena Floor

Short and focused, which is exactly what you want after ten days of touring. Just over an hour with a guide and you're done, which left us the afternoon for everything else in the neighborhood.

Appian Way, Rome We did this

Rome Catacombs & Appian Way Small-Group Tour by Golf Cart

The sleeper hit of the whole trip. You get out of the crowds, onto the old Roman road, and underground into the catacombs, all by golf cart so nobody's feet give out.
